But no doubt your most important survival skill is your reading: you read everything you can get your hands on that has to do with outdoor adventures. This way you learn about particular pieces of gear that have worked well for others. You pick up all kinds of tips from people who make a living at this survival business. You even read about things that have gone wrong - sometimes seriously wrong - for others so you, hopefully, can avoid making those mistakes (you are free, of course, to make different mistakes of your own). Included here are a number of books for you to think about. Browse through these and buy a couple that catch your eye. Maybe they are by writers you recognize, maybe they have been recommended by your friends, or maybe they just look interesting.
